Camouflaging techniques

Camouflaging is one of the easiest and most of the time, cheapest ways which creates an illusion of full hair. For a short time period or as a temporary fixture, hardly anything comes in comparison with camouflaging techniques as far as hair filling goes.

Wig hair is generally made from either natural hair or synthetic acrylic fibers, which can be again classified into two types – Interwoven and Worn-over.

Interwoven wigs come with a problem of making frequent adjustments, because as the natural hair grows, it becomes necessary on the part of the wearer to adjust the wig likewise so that the natural look can be continued. It also bears with it the problems of itching scalp and dandruff. However, modern techniques are in place which can take care of these shortcomings.

Broadly speaking, camouflaging techniques can be classified into :

• Hair weaving
• Hair clipping
• Hair bonding
• Hair gumming

Since all of the above methods bring with them corresponding disadvantages, they are only temporary and cannot be worn for a lifetime. No doubt theses methods are swift and much less expensive, but the essential fact remains the same, they are temporary in nature. In fact, they can never come at par with hair transplantation. Although initially hair transplantation might seem to be a bit costly, it is, in fact, the most economic method in the long run.

Recently, a new technique is getting momentum which consists of spraying keratin fibers so that full look can be achieved.

These techniques are recommended only on those special cases which have limitations, like less resourceful donor area .Camouflaging techniques can immensely boost the confidence level of the patients and can also improve the overall appearance.
